We had yet another successful CSR program. The place of choice was Methodist Girls School; no wonder the attendance from our fellow male CASFUMAL members were quite high. The day started off at 6 am at V2 cafe. Though a few were late, things managed to sort out around 7 when we left UTP for MGS.
At the arrival, we were welcomed by the principal and we were being "motivated" to give our best and share with the students. There was breakfast and soon after, we went into our respective halls, one for SPM and the other for PMR. For SPM, Shahril started off by giving a speech on why students should pursue Petroleum Engineering, followed by Kerry representing Civil Engineering, Puven on Mechanical Engineering, Yu Han on Chemical Engineering, Amrith on Petroleum GeoScience, Kalai on Electrical Engineering and Poohvin for BIS and ICT. Each of them promoting their own course and at the same time bashing each other's courses.
After that, there was a game session where group of students of around 11 each had to stand on a few pieces of newspaper and after each round, one piece of the newspaper had to be folded into half. The game managed to go on to the stage where girls were being carried / piggybacked / lifted and what not. After that, we fellow CASFUMALS went on for a sharing session with our little group of students and tell them on what to expect for SPM, post SPM and university life. It was very interactive and there were much storytelling and advice giving.
At the same time, there was also the PMR group session going on . It started off with Cheryl ,Arunan, Aminol, Khor Jun Li, and Midah giving talk on " How to Study Effectively". It was informative and very motivational and I'm sure it inspired the students. Then there were also the game session which is the same as the game held for the SPM students and followed by the sharing session. All in all , everything went smoothly, it was very successful and we certainly did achieve our mission and vision of the day. We hope that our CSR program that day did inspire the students to work harder and to achieve better in life.
Recreational Family Day

The 27 of March was definitely a day to remember. It was the recreational family day of CASFUMAL 2011. The day started off with a good attendance from the committees of CASFUMAL all gathering outside the lecture hall of UTP. Immediately, there were already bonding from the committees talking and chatting with each other. After everyone is settled down, the committees were introduced to their delicious breakfast of nasi lemak and a bottle of mineral water.
After the meal, HRM department took over to give a short briefing on how the first game of the day is going to be, named pirate-treasure hunter game. The rules of the game is quite simple, the team who is to be the 'treasure hunter' is supposed to find for ribbons hidden all around the USM area while the 'pirates' are supposed to find the treasure hunters and rip a tag pinned to their shirt. As unfair as it may sound for the treasure hunter team, there's a catch to this game, the 'pirates' have an empty can tied to their leg so that when they walk, it will touch the ground and produces much sound to alert the 'treasure hunters' of their coming.
The committees are divided into two teams and each team captain is allowed to choose their desired assignment, 'pirate' or 'treasure hunter'. After they both reached an agreement, the treasure hunter is let off first. They were given a 5 minutes head start to study the clues given to them and decide where the ribbons are hidden. After the 5 minutes is up, the 'pirates' were release, making a lot of noise as they walk/run.
Right after the pirates were released, the screams from the 'treasure hunters' could be heard. Didn’t have enough time to run and hide, many of them were caught nearby, all of them showing their faces of despair.
As expected, a short while later, approximately 20 minutes, all the treasure hunters were caught, thus claiming the victory for the 'pirates' team. They were given a few minutes break then they exchanged roles.
This time, the treasure hunters managed to last for the whole 1 hour. Amazingly,1 of their member was still 'alive' even after the time was up and several of her teammates went hunting for her instead shouting out her name all around USM area. Some even claimed her to be a ninja because she managed to hide from the pirate team for the whole 1 hour.
After the game was ended, all the committees were exhausted from all the running and chasing so they were treated with a 'coffee break' which is the second and last game of the day. This game started with all the committees sitting in a straight row with their same grouping as the previous game. The game master then placed 1 plastic cup for each person. Having all pumped up from the game before, the team was hard to handle at this point of time where they were all busy telling their buddies about their good times and bad times they faced in the game. One of them even asked if what they were doing was a game because he thought it was just an ordinary drinking session.
After the laughter and all, the game master then brief about the rule of the game. Basically, it goes like when a committee rolls the dice, he/she will be given the number of teaspoon of coffee into his cup corresponding to the number he gets from the dice. The second time he/she rolls the dice, it will determine the type of spoon he will be using to scoop sugar into his cup, ranging from a small plastic spoon to soup spoon which are already assigned number.
There was much laughter throughout the entire game due to some committee getting many spoons of coffee but little sugar into their cup and other funny combination of coffee-sugar that wouldn't even sound logical. After everyone got their combination of sugar-coffee into their cup, they were then given hot water to make their coffee for example 3 teaspoon of coffee and 1 soup spoon of sugar! .
Starting from the front most committee, they were going head to head with the opponent sitting opposite them. Drinking one at a time, they forcefully gulped down their coffee and pass on their cue to their next team mate to start drinking only after they finish their coffee. There were much cheering and encouragement from each other. Some even went to the extent of pushing their teammates' cup to their mouth.
The game ended well with most of the committees managing to finish their coffee. After that, there was a short speech from the HRM AHOD and from the PD himself. The day ended with a photo shooting session conducted by PnP department.

Ouch. It has been long since I’ve updated this blog. Better get moving now.. Early March, we were having BBQ Night with the committees. It was on 4th of March, and we were having it at the pavilion near to Main Hall, UTP.
Among all of the food that served on that night is barbecued chicken, sausages and nasi goreng USA; and actually we were having a lot of dish that I can’t recall (or is it my Alzheimer?? Ha-ha) Special thanks to HRM and FNB committee and without you guys, there would not be such a great BBQ gathering like that.
Among of all other things that we did except eating, we were all playing games like “Dare” game as well as Gift Exchange. Oh, and not to forget that we celebrated the birthday guys-and-gals on January, February & March (and we did had Secret Recipes’ Chocolate Moist Cake, yummy~)
And so, with all the fun that we had, let’s put our effort more and more to this coming July.. Keep on moving, guys!!
CSR: SMK Pengkalan Aur

Date: 2 March 2011
Time: 8.00am -3.00pm
Venue: SMK Pengkalan Aur, Taiping, PERAK
Last week, we went to SMK Pengkalan Aur, Taiping and we had our workshop with the Form 5 students. We aimed to give a talk about motivation and how to prepare on post-SPM condition. Although we had a few obstacles going there (like stuck inside traffic congestion, lost a few ways) but we still managed to arrive there safely. (Thank God for that)
The motivational talk was given by Tuan Haji Jalil Abdullah, our beloved counsellor in UTP; we were thrilled to have him in one of our slot. It is more on how to succeed and to believe in one’s ability to move forward. Later we had a few games to develop communication, leadership and teamwork skills among the students. One of the few games is to list out the “Function-of-a-Door”. During this session, we were amazed on how many possible things that came from these students. Some are possible, natural, and some are unique and rather peculiar, but still plausible.
To end our session with them, we had sharing session for the students to ask question about what they wanted to know as well as what they will expect after SPM. Around 3.00pm, the session had finished and we had a really, really wonderful lunch served by the school. And by the way, we had a very good time there and much was amazed on how the school work. They had a café organized by the students in which they will manage and serve food as a restaurant would. ^^
A bit reluctant to leave, but we had to. I think most of us had a great time there sharing what we had and we thank all the members and person who made this event successful. Thank you!
